How We Verify & Score Every Hosting Deal (Our Methodology)

By The HostingPerk Editorial Team · Updated Jun 14, 2026 · 4 min read

Most coupon sites are content to list whatever codes they can scrape and hope you click. We built HostingPerk because we wanted the opposite: a place where every deal is checked, scored and explained, so you can trust the recommendation instead of gambling on it. Here's exactly how we do it.

The problem we set out to solve

Hosting is confusing on purpose. Introductory prices hide steep renewals, "unlimited" comes with footnotes, and coupon directories are littered with dead codes that waste your time. The result is a buyer who can't easily tell a great deal from a dressed-up average one. Our entire job is to remove that confusion.

How we verify deals

Every coupon on HostingPerk goes through both automated and human checks:

  • Freshness tracking. Each code carries a "last verified" timestamp. If it hasn't been checked recently, it surfaces in our internal verification queue for re-checking.
  • Success-rate signals. We track how codes perform and flag any with falling success rates so they can be updated or retired.
  • User reports. If a code stops working, a single click reports it, and it moves to the top of our queue. Community signal makes the whole system faster.
  • Link health. Affiliate links change constantly. We monitor for broken redirects so you never land on a dead page.

The Perk Score, explained

The Perk Score is our 0–100 rating that compresses everything that matters about a deal into one honest number. It's a weighted blend:

FactorWeightWhy it's in there
Discount value25%The size of the genuine saving
Coupon success rate20%Does the code actually work?
Provider rating15%Overall quality and reputation
Popularity10%What other savers are choosing
Verification freshness10%How recently we confirmed it
Support & performance10%What you live with after buying
Money-back guarantee5%How risk-free it is to try
Renewal transparency5%How honest the long-term price is

A score of 90+ is exceptional; 80+ is excellent; below 60 we'd think twice. Admins can override a score with justification, but the formula does the heavy lifting — and renewal transparency being baked in is why a deal with a brutal renewal can't hide behind a big discount.

How we make money (and why it doesn't bias us)

We're transparent about this: HostingPerk earns affiliate commissions when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. That's how the site stays free. Crucially, commissions never affect the Perk Score or rankings — the score is computed from the factors above, full stop. A host paying a higher commission doesn't get a better score; that would defeat the entire point of the site.

What we will and won't do

  • We will flag a steep renewal, a missing free domain, or a weak guarantee, even on a host we link to.
  • We will retire deals that stop working rather than leave them up for clicks.
  • We won't publish a code we can't verify, or inflate a discount off a price nobody pays.

Hold us to it

If you ever find a deal on HostingPerk that doesn't work, report it — that signal is part of the system, and it makes the next person's experience better. Our goal is simple: be the most trustworthy way to save money on hosting. Start with our verified deals or see the methodology in action on any provider review.

Frequently asked questions

How does HostingPerk verify coupons?

Through automated freshness tracking, success-rate signals, one-click user reports, and affiliate link-health monitoring. Stale or failing codes surface in our verification queue for re-checking or retirement.

What is the Perk Score?

A 0–100 rating blending discount value (25%), coupon success rate (20%), provider rating (15%), popularity (10%), verification freshness (10%), support and performance (10%), money-back guarantee (5%) and renewal transparency (5%).

Do affiliate commissions affect rankings?

No. HostingPerk earns affiliate commissions at no extra cost to you, but the Perk Score is computed purely from the published factors. A higher commission never buys a better score.
